Evangelist Louise Durrette

Pulpit Assistant

Evangelist E. Louise Durrette was born in Lincolnton, Georgia and received her early education in the public school of McDuffie and Columbia Counties. She graduated from Blanchard High School, Appling, Georgia, attended Fisher Jr. College, Boston, Massachusetts and Clark College, Atlanta, Georgia.

She is a member of the First Mount Carmel Baptist Church, Winfield, Georgia where she serves as Pulpit Assistant to her pastor, Rev. Roscoe F. Perry. She is a Sunday School Teacher, Bible Study Teacher and President of the Sanctuary Choir. She also serves as advisor to the gospel group “Blessed”. She is married to Alphonso Alvin Durrette and to this union there are three children: Willette, Alvin and Alkeesha. She is also a proud grandmother. She is employed by the Augusta/Richmond County Human Relations Commission and has a small business called “Durrette’s This and That.” She is a great speaker and singer who uses her calling and her voice to glorify God.

Evangelist E. Louise Durrette is one from whom you can find comfort and proper guidance. She has a deep sense of loyalty, complete consecration to the church and an unwavering devotion to her family. She is a good friend to those who need a friend. She is one that you can count on. She is also a confidant, one you can talk to because she is always positive. No matter how bleak the moment may be, she seems to find something comforting to say. She is one that will be there when you need her.

In 2000, God decided that he needed her to preach His word. Needless to say, she answered His call. Having answered the call, she began to study to show herself approved unto God by enrolling in the American Baptist Theological Seminary and The Christian Life School of Theology. However, Evangelist Durrette says that the Holy Spirit has been her greatest teacher.

She is one that is not afraid to stand boldly and preach the Word. She will gladly preach “in season and out of season.” She can communicate with kings and still be humble enough to communicate with the lowly. The commitment of herself and her talents to God’s program, and the spirit of humility with which she performs her various tasks, are always obvious. Evangelist Durrette is an inspiration to many. God lays many things on her heart to do and she listens, and then takes action.

She says that she receives her marching orders from Joel 2:28: “And afterwards I will pour out my spirit upon all flesh; and your sons and your daughters shall prophesy, your old men shall dream dreams your young men shall seek visions.”
